 celebrated writer as he explores the intersection of race\, place and natu
 re. Dr. Lanham\, a professor of wildlife ecology at Clemson University\, w
 ill share his way of seeing\, hearing and witnessing birds and nature – 
 both past and present. Prof. Lanham blends science\, art\, and social prac
 tice in his celebrated prose and poetry\, including in his book The Home P
 lace: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature (2017) and Spar
 row Envy: Field Guide to Birds and Lesser Beasts (2021).  This event is m
 ade possible by The Echo Charitable Foundation.  This event is  co-spons
 ored by Peabody Essex Museum and the Essex County Ornithological Club. A b
