SUMMARY:Come Bird in the Dolan Pond Conservation Area!
DESCRIPTION:Come bird with longtime avian enthusiasts Ian Buzby\, Michael H
anley\, and Ted Kuklinski (a past president of Newton Conservators) at Dol
an Pond and see migrating warblers\, thrushes\, and other newly arrived co
lorful residents. The trip leaders have collectively recorded over 300 eBi
rd sightings at this rich habitat.\n\nIn addition to being a Newton eBird
 hotspot (https://ebird.org/hotspot/L2829294/bird-list) this nine-acre cons
ervation area is home to the vernal pools that herons\, wood ducks\, turtl
es\, and frogs frequent.  The terrain includes accessible wooded paths an
d a boardwalk.  Bring binoculars if you have them. Children and beginners
are welcome. Meet near 76 Webster Park\, WestNewton\, and park around the
inner Webster Park circle.  Depending on number of participants\, we may
break up into smaller groups.  Pre-registration is encouraged to help us
plan and to be notified in case of cancellation due to bad weather.\n\nAs
of Friday evening\, the walk is ON.  The temps are expected to be about
50 from 8-10 am.   Unfortunately\, the forecast is for wet weather on Sa
turday but with the heaviest in the later afternoon.  And often the weath
er changes from the prediction - it's New England!  We expect to be there
on Saturday morning and will be birding even if showering a bit.  If you
are coming\, have footwear that can stand getting a little moist and cons
ider a poncho or small umbrella just in case\, and a hat or cap.   A lot
of birding can be done by ear.  Nice weather for ducks may bring out the
resident wood ducks or the recent mallard babies.  Use your judgment in
the morning.  A steady hard rain may cancel the walk.  \n\nTrip Contact
