Focu sed on gardens showcasing mostly native plants across several Newton villa ges\, this self-paced tour will demonstrate how native flora can beautiful ly sustain vital local pollinators. Organized by the Newton Community Poll inator Project in conjunction with Newton Conservators\, the Newton Parks and Recreation Department\, Green Newton\, Friends of Cold Spring Park\, F riends of Wellington Park\, and Mothers Out Front Newton\, the event is fr ee.\n\nRegistration for the tour can be found below.  Please sign up.  R egistrants will receive detailed info and maps ahead of the tour to help p lan your afternoon\, and to alert you of a weather postponement.\nTOUR INF O\nWe are excited to share with you a number of private and public native pollinator plant gardens in the tour.  The gardens located NORTH of the M ass Pike are open from 12-2 pm and the gardens located SOUTH of the Mass P ike are open from 2-4. There is also an after-party from 4-5:30 that all h osts and attendees are invited to attend\, we hope to see you there!   W e have created a detailed tour guide and interactive map to guide you thro ugh the tour. This is available now if you’d like to look it over before the tour and plan your visits.\n\n\n\nCLICK HERE to go to the tour guide in PDF form and download a copy. The guide has information about each gard en on the tour as well as the interactive maps. You will also find links t o plant inventory created by hosts (not all gardens provide inventories) a nd other resources.  To use the interactive map\, click on the pin for t he garden you want to visit. This will bring up an information box with th e exact address. Clicking on the Address will provide you with directions to that garden from wherever you are. Clicking on the Name of the garden will bring up a comprehensive inventory of the plants in the garden if th e host has chosen to create one.   The guide has a number of QR codes th at would make it easy to download the guide or interactive map or inventor ies onto your mobile phone or tablet for use before the tour.\n\n\nThis is a self guided tour and you can visit them in any order within the designa ted area and time slot - North (12-2 pm) and South (2-4 pm).  We are very grateful to our tour hosts for opening up their gardens to guests and sha ring their knowledge on native pollinator gardens.  If you've been on the tour in past years\, you will find mostly new private and public gardens this year!  We have included a handy list of publicly accessible pollinat or gardens that can be visited anytime outside of the tour.  To make best use of your time\, it may be best to focus on the sites on the official n orth and south tours.\n\nAfter the tour we will be sending out a survey.
