SUMMARY:Invasives Pull & Cleanup at Dolan Pond
DESCRIPTION:A NewtonSERVES project\nRegistration is recommended via the cit
 y's  NewtonSERVES site - register here.  However\, registration liabilit
 y forms will be available at the event itself.\nNewtonSERVES is happening
  again this year at Dolan Pond on the morning of Sunday May 1 from 9 am u
 ntil Noon.  Come help remove invasive and soil damaging Garlic Mustard a
 nd Knotweed at various locations throughout the park and clean up this spe
 cial gem of West Newton.  We will be meeting near the kiosk at the HP par
 king area down the hill from the street called Webster Park.  If you are 
 coming from a distance\, there is parking along the inner circle along Web
 ster Park.\nNewtonSERVES is being administered by the Newton Parks\, Recre
 ation amd Culture Department this year and there are a few changes from pa
 st years. As they put it:  "This year we are looking to focus volunteer 
 efforts on cleaning and improving our parks\, school grounds\, open space
  areas\, and conservation lands. These areas have been so important thes
 e past few years and really could use some community TLC!"  Here is the

 es\nWe will meet at 9 am for a quick orientation on what we will be doing.
   Sign one of the liability forms if you have not preregistered (parents 
 can sign for children) and grab a name tag.  The project will go until ar
 ound Noon.  It is okay to come for just part of the time.  Just look for
  folks working along Webster path\, Cumberland Path or Irene's Bluff Trail
 .  Wear sturdy shoes\, long pants\, garden gloves.  Long sleeves recomm
 ended. We will be working outside and certainly masks are encouraged if wo
 rking close to others.   Bring your own water\, snacks\, and sunscreen.
   We will have a few extra pairs of gloves.  We have been doing this ev
 ent since NewtonSERVES first started many years ago.\n\nOur official proje
 ct name is listed as " Invasives Pull-Dolan Pond".  They are treating th
 is event as one of their regular programs that you register for.  It requ
 ires signing up for a family account and location NewtonSERVES and registe
 ring with a fee of $0.00.  The main purpose of the online registration is
  for you to sign the city's liability form  It is a bit cumbersome but if
  you participate in any other "Parks &amp\; Rec" programs\, you may find i
 t not too difficult.\nIMPORTANT NOTE:  If you haven't registered online\,
  you can come on Sunday\, May 1 and sign up by filling out a paper liabili
 ty form on the clipboard we will have at our meeting location next to the 
 HP parking area by the kiosk down from the Webster Park entrance.  You ca
