SUMMARY:Signs of Spring in Webster Woods
DESCRIPTION:Join Barbara Bates\, Newton Conservators Director and retired M
 ass Audubon teacher/naturalist\, for an easy ramble through Webster Woods.
  We’ll see what spring ephemeral flowers are in bloom and whether the wo
 od frogs are still calling in Bare Pond\, the vernal pool. Hopefully we’
 ll see Lady Slippers and Nodding Bellwort (aka Merrybells) at the very lea
 st. We will follow the Red trail to Bare Pond\, pick up the Green trail to
  Cake Rock\, Gooch's Cave\, the dell along Thompsonville Brook\, and retur
 n via the Red trail past Cat Pond unless a very wet spring has flooded tha
 t part of the trail.\n\nApproximately 1.5 miles with frequent stops to dis
 cuss nature and take pictures.\n\nThe trail can be rocky and muddy in plac
 es and there are one or two steep places where a trekking pole can be help
 ful.  Bring insect repellent and dress accordingly.\n\nSuitable for ages 
 5 and up. No pets allowed.\n\nRain on May 10 cancels the walk and registra
 nts will be notified by email.  If in doubt\, email Barbara before 9:15 A
