DESCRIPTION:Join Lindsay Miller Barranco from the vanEnglesdorp Bee Lab at 
 the University of Maryland for a talk on the importance of bees\, native b
 ees and honeybees. The program will cover:\n\n 	A description of native be
 es (both ground nesting and tube nesting)\n 	What individuals can do to en
 hance their environments through floral plantings and optimizing sites for
  native bee nesting.\n 	Challenges native bees and honey bees face\n 	The 
 history and biology of honey bee colonies and how they are utilized in co
 mmercial agriculture for pollination in the U.S.\n\nLindsay Barranco is a 
 graduate student at the University of Maryland who has wide ranging experi
 ence with both honeybees and native bees - for a time she was a beekeeper 
 and apiary inspector for the State of Maryland and currently focuses more 
 on native bee issues and is doing a thesis dealing with ground nesting bee
  substrates\, researching different surface types for the benefit of groun
