SUMMARY:Vernal Pool BioBlitz
DESCRIPTION:Vernal pools are small wetlands that are important habitats for
  a great diversity of amphibians\, aquatic insects\, and other invertebrat
 es. Join us as we explore a vernal pool in Nahanton Park and document what
  we see in iNaturalist. Bring calf boots if you have them\, but waterproof
  boots will not be needed. At the beginning of the event\, we will provide
  a basic tutorial on the use of iNaturalist\, a useful smartphone app for 
 documenting plants and animals and improving your identification skills. A
 lthough we can’t predict what we’ll see\, we may encounter frog or sal
 amander eggs and might hear calling spring peepers or American toads.\n\nT
 his event is being led by naturalist Jonathan Regosin.  Jon is the former
  Deputy Director of the Massachusetts Division of Fisheries and Wildlife a
 nd is a board member of Newton Conservators\, for which he’s worked on v
 ariety of projects including the preservation of Newton Community Farm and
  Newton Bioblitz.  Jon has a PhD in Biology from Tufts University and his
   research has focused on a variety of species including protected specie
 s such as blue-spotted salamanders\, northern red-bellied cooters\, and pi
