The Newton Conservators Invasives Team tackles garlic mustard, buckthorn, bittersweet, japanese knotweed, and other problems in many of Newton’s open spaces. Come join us! The schedule for this month is listed below (other dates are listed in separate “events” by month). Help keep these invaders out! Wear long pants tucked into socks, closed shoes, and garden gloves. Trash bags will be provided; the City will dispose properly as trash, not as yard waste. Volunteers should complete this online Release Form or they can do it on site.
In May we have many events, including 4 on NewtonSERVES day May 3. This is prime time for getting garlic mustard out – easy and fun to pull and great for kids too.
May 2 Sat 9-11. Quinobequin Rd along river. Meet at Ellis St parking lot at corner Quinobequin and Rte 9.
May 2 Sat 1-3 – Upper Falls Greenway. (K Howard,). Meet at kiosk on the Greenway behind the Boston Ballet/Trader Joe’s parking lot.

May 23 Sat 9:30-12 Blue Heron Bridge. Meet at the Newton side of the Blue Heron Bridge. Park at the Super Stop & Shop on the Watertown side, or on Albemarle Rd in Newton.
