Artist Statement

This series of oil paintings by Cindy Ryan of Newton Highlands shows dogs and their owners, socializing in Cold Spring Park on a late winter afternoon. These are loose and quick studies of dogs, people and their shadows, trees and snowy footprints in the long afternoon light that we see during winter. They represent memories of wonderful walks in the snow, watching our overjoyed dogs romp together on sunny winter days. Cold Spring Park has been a haven for dogs and their owners for decades; a wonderland and respite from regular life that dogs and their people have always enjoyed.
