Come say hello at our green Newton Conservators tent on Albemarle/Halloran Field during the big Newton July Fourth Celebration. Learn more about our free nature related programs this summer and fall. We’ll be set up from around 1 to 4 pm at the Open Air Market nearer to the gazebo on Albemarle Road.

At Albemarle there is also a carnival featuring kiddie amusement rides by Cushing Amusements, local vendor booths, and a handmade craft fair. At 2 pm gather at the gazebo to enjoy the music of Newton’s own community ukulele ensemble, The City Hall Strummers, and stick around for the Bay Colony Brass at 3pm. There will be plenty of tables for enjoying refreshments from a variety of food trucks parked around the grounds.

Newton’s own Kat Chapman and her band-mate and co-producer Chris Leadbetter fire up the main stage at 5:30pm. Come early to save your space in the field. At 7pm things really kick up with the headliner band East Coast Soul bringing the crowd to their feet dancing and singing till dark. Try out the delicious food from the many food trucks and enjoy the open space under the stars. At 9:10 pm settle in for the grand finale…a fantastic fireworks display!

While most of the events are free on the 4th, there is a charge for food trucks and the carnival. A portion of these sales are sent back to the community in the form of free programs and events.

Also check out the FREE Kids Morning, 10am – Noon, at Newton Centre Bowl off Tyler Terrace for children ages 3-12.
Children and families are invited to join in the Patriotic Costume Parade, Grand Pet Promenade, Decorated Bicycle Parade, make a July 4th parade wand at the arts/crafts table and more. FREE ice cream courtesy of Cabot’s Ice Cream. Kids Morning is cancelled in the event of rain.
