J Drew Lanham“Equity is a hard bird to find. Diligently search for it in places with common ground.” Join J. Drew Lanham, conservation ornithologist and celebrated writer as he explores the intersection of race, place and nature. Dr. Lanham, a professor of wildlife ecology at Clemson University, will share his way of seeing, hearing and witnessing birds and nature – both past and present. Prof. Lanham blends science, art, and social practice in his celebrated prose and poetry, including in his book The Home Place: Memoirs of a Colored Man’s Love Affair with Nature (2017) and Sparrow Envy: Field Guide to Birds and Lesser Beasts (2021).  This event is made possible by The Echo Charitable Foundation.  This event is  co-sponsored by Peabody Essex Museum and the Essex County Ornithological Club.
