Help care for Newton Conservators’ pocket park on Dexter Rd near NNHS. Our new plantings there are doing very well, but are being shaded and suffocated by a variety of aggressive and invasive plants. We will cut back Norway maple sprouts, remove invasive honeysuckle and burning bush, cut back the pokeweed (native, but growing way too aggressively), and water and tend our mini habitat. The slope is steep so wear sturdy shoes; or you can work at the street level. Wear long pants and garden gloves. Bring pruners and loppers if you have them (we have some extras). If not vaccinated please wear mask.
Leader is Katherine Howard, 617-721-2571. Please register if you would like to help; we’ve set a maximum of 10 people due to the terrain.
